You've been put on the list

It feels an age since settlement. From the nagging and whining from our builder we had assumed that after settlement that our build would immediately start. This was a lie.

After six weeks of patiently waiting, sending new emails checking progess with the consitent response of "There are still a few things we need to do to get you to site". I got a bit sick of this, truth be told. So I said so. The next response was that they were apparently waiting on our finance details. Right. So what you're saying is, you've either not checked our job to see what the hold up was, or, you're bullshitting. Because I tell you now that finance was provided and settled before settlement on the land. I don't think we could have settled without it, somehow.

So now we know that our builder elects not to be honest about hold ups. I totally don't object to delays, so long as we know upfront and we know why. But don't tell me that it's all happening and then blame us when we get narky. Because that's crap. And we told them so. The response was that "Now that we have everything we can add your job to the list for next month".

Every time I send an email to this person (I can't ring I'll just scream at her) I have to hold back the bile that spills from my throat and the hands that twitch grasping for her throat. Not that I'm bitter. To date my emails are drafted and then checked by a reasonable person to remove my trademark "fish-slapping" technique that I struggle to keep out of my communications when I'm angry.

So if you're one of the squillions of people who have asked us about our house lately and watched me roll my eyes in frustration, this is why.

So right now we're "on the list" for this month. What's that you say? This month's half over? No fucking kidding. My last email elicited that our builder is waiting on the council (ha!) and that we can't start until that comes back. Oh and our contract adminsitrator is going on leave. No we can't have the details of her replacement before she goes. <grumblegrumblegrumblegrumblebilegrumblegrumblevomitgrumblegrumble>
